There’s no place like home……

The key to Dorothy returning home, in the original version of ‘The Wizard of Oz’, was to click the heels of her shiny red shoes, close her eyes and say with conviction “there’s no place like home”.

For many of us, we have just been in a blissful bubble of  festive ‘familiness’ and even if that was a mish-mash of highs and lows, most would agree that there really is no place like home.

What does it actually mean?

Is it bricks and mortar?

Is it the place where our loved ones reside?

Is it familiarity and warmth?

Is it our favourite food around the table or in homesweethomefront of the television?

Is it a place of safety?

Of fun and laughter?

A place to be able to be who you are?

Whatever it is, these things often take time to become.

Children and young people who are unable to live with their birth families, need a foster family that can provide them with a foster home. It may be a unique blend of family and it may take time to develop the qualities that make a foster home, actually feel like home.

At Chrysalis Care, we support our foster carers to go the distance that may sometimes be required.

If you have ever thought about becoming a foster parent and have a desire to help children in care to know what it means to have a home, please contact us today to find out how to be a foster parent and how foster a child.

After all, there really is no place like home.
